About Us

Established March 13, 2006, the Michigan Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (MSHF) is committed to providing scholarships for students pursuing professional degrees in the fields of communication disorders including speech-language pathology, audiology and/or deaf education within Michigan public universities.

Competitive Scholarship Program

The Michigan Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation is pleased to announce the application process for competitive scholarships. This scholarship award is intended for graduate students in their final year of a professional program (Master’s SLP or AuD) in the state of Michigan who intend to work in the state of Michigan following graduation. Students should submit their applications to:  scholarships@msha-foundation.org.  
Award Description:
This award is intended for graduate students in their final year of a professional program (Master’s SLP or AuD) in the state of Michigan who intend to work in the state of Michigan following graduation.

Award Amount:
Up to six $800.00 scholarships will be awarded.
 
Eligibility:
Full-time graduate students currently enrolled in their final year of a professional graduate program (Master’s SLP, or AuD) in the state of Michigan who intend to work or continue their education in Michigan post-graduation.
 
How to Apply:
Applicants must submit one PDF document of the following information, in the following order provided below. The PDF file should be saved as LastName_FirstName_MSHF_Scholarship_2020

Application
Applications should be submitted to scholarships@msha-foundation.org with the subject line reading 2020 MSHF Scholarship Application.

·         Completed application as first page of PDF

·         500-word essay including:

♦   Description of your unique graduate school experiences in preparing for future career

♦   Description of your plan for clinical service career or additional academic pursuits in the state of Michigan following graduate school

♦   Description of your current and future volunteer/leadership roles within the profession

♦   Description of your career goals for next 3-5 years
  • 1 to 2-page resume
  • Letter of support from a current faculty member
  • Current graduate academic transcript

Scholarships will be awarded at the MSHA Conference Awards Luncheon held at the MSHA annual conference as a guest of MSHA. Scholarship recipients will be invited guests of MSHF at this luncheon. While scholarship recipients are encouraged to attend the awards ceremony, non-attendance does not preclude you from receiving a financial award.

Additionally, scholarship recipients will be asked to submit a recent photo for use at awards ceremony and on MSHF website. Scholarship recipients will also be featured on the MSHF website and asked to submit information to support this feature.

December 15, 2019, midnight EST. The new deadline is December 20, 2019 at 5:00pm.
